I designed and built this PDA mission for Empyrion myself:

  • write a storyboard
  • adapt it to the existing scenario
  • design an build the buildings
  • place them on the planet

I also redesigned the planet itself to match the mission:

  • the colors and textures of the planet’s surface
  • the biome list with planetary stamps
  • the light intensities and colors
  • the placement in the sector and the asteroid choice

The last step was to implement the mission to the PDA

  • create tasks and actions
  • write a preamble
  • distribute the rewards
  • test the flow and if everything works fine

~~~~~~~ The Story ~~~~~~~

Ori is a planet of a sun people. The native species have built sun temples here with an extraordinary technology:

It captures the energy of the sun and uses it to create new little suns. This way the plants get an extra portion of sunlight even at night. That is why the planet is also brightly lit at night. They also used these suns for energy storage.

One day, after an unexpectedly strong solar storm, the energy absorbers were overloaded for a short time. The technology built to balance the inflow and outflow of energy had suffered damage that the locals couldn’t fix quickly enough.

They called for intergalactic help from the EGS, the Elemental Galactic Service. The EGS evacuated the planet immediately and then analyzed the danger situation. Suns were now not only generated on the roofs of the temples, but randomly all over the planet. The suns grew out of control until they exploded.

It was impossible for them to switch off the technology again and so they agreed on a temporary elimination of symptoms and damage limitation by regularly destroying the still small suns. So that they didn’t get too big and could cause more damage. Some experts even feared the complete explosion of the entire planet.

And this is where the mission for the players (the clones) begins. On behalf of EGS they should visit the planet and destroy some of the suns. As a reward, they receive a certain amount of credits and level up in EGS reputation by gaining another clone point.

As a small side quest, there is a riddle in each of the large sun temples that works with the shadow. For example, at a certain hour of the day, shadows appear on certain numbers. They are the code for a personal container.
